Erick Joel Pedro Talavera

Meet Erick Joel Pedro Talavera, he and one brother and three sisters live with their parents in Honduras  many miles from Malaysia. Honduras is very far away from Kuching, I think their clock is 14 hours behind us. Their cultures are very different from ours too.

Erick was born on July 3, 1995 and enjoys singing, dancing, painting. His favourite pastime is playing soccer, playing with tops, playing with marbles. He is Spanish. His height is 4 feet 8 inches; he weighs 84 pounds; his hair is black and he has brown eyes.

Erick is number 2 of 5 children. He has an elder sister, younger sister, brother and sister. He cannot go to school as he must work to help support the family. Father is a Factory worker, mother a homemaker. His family's monthly income is $184.

Erick and siblings live with their parents in a one bedroom house with a kitchen and a living room. Their cooking facility is a gas stove. They sleep on folding beds. Their house is made of concrete block walls, covered with corrugated metal roof and the floor is of concrete. The house has running water and electricity supply, there is also a toilet.

Inspired by Fr Pat ( http://www.frpat.com ), a Roman Catholic Priest in the US  who is a pioneer in web evangelization whom I have followed and receiving his inspiring Morning Prayer for more than 10 years, I decided to sponsor Erick through Children International.

It is wonderful to know that with only USD22 a month Children International can help make a lasting difference to the life of a child in need with a lot of basic essentials which we take for granted:

- EDUCATION

  - MEDICAL CARE

  - DENTAL CARE

- SHELTER

  - FOOD

  - CLEAN WATER

- CLOTHINGS

  - SHOES

  - SANITATION

- FRIENDSHIP

  - HOPE

  - LOVE

I am also sending Erick gifts for his Birthday, Christmas, Easter, and the "Hug" day in September.  I do not think I will ever meet Erick as Honduras is very far away. But I feel happy for I know that I am lifting up and touching the life of a child in a far way land.

You may like to Life ONE Child Up Today too.

Also have a look at how Erick grows over the years.

My Small Wander has now become a Big Wander !
