In
the night God commanded Joseph in a dream: Arise! Take the child and his
mother, Go to Egypt and remain there until
I tell you otherwise. Herod wants to find the child and kill him. Straightaway
in the night, Joseph got up and fled to Egypt with Mary and the child
Jesus. But Herod noticed that the wise men did not come back to Jerusalem. He was furious and
ordered that all boys in Bethlehem and in the immediate
vicinity of the city, who were younger than two years old, should be killed.
Later, Herod had died, an angel told Joseph in a dream: Arise! Take the child
and his mother. Go back to the land of Israel. Joseph got up. He
returned to the land of Israel with Mary and the child
Jesus. There they settled in Nazareth.
