27. Solomon’s proverbs

A willing son is his father’s joy; a stubborn son his mother’s grief. (10,1)

Hatred stirs up strife; but love creates harmony. (10,12)

Whoever helps others, will himself be helped; whoever gives water to the thirsty, will not thirst himself. (11,25)

Whoever keeps to honest ways, respects God; he whose ways are crooked, scorns him. (14,2)

Whoever despises his neighbour, sins; whoever takes pity on the poor is blessed. (14,21)

Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor, will not be heard when he cries out for help himself.
