唐 詩 三 百 首 Contents

The Chinese text of the poems was entered by Ned Walsh in 1992, Chinese comments are from other different sources.

Selected English translations are entered by me based on one of the two sources: "The Jade Mountain - A Chinese Anthology" by WITTER BYNNER from the text of KIANG KANG-HU, Vintage Books, 1972 (I got this book for NZ$1.80 at the Auckland University Book Shop in 1974) and "300 TANG POEMS - A New Translation" by Xu Yuan-zhong, Loh Bei-yei and Wu Juntao, Bookman Books, 1998 (bought this one recently in Kuching for RM45.00 at Wisma Saberkas) - Michael Hii Nov 7, 1998.

On 15th August 1970, I bought a Chinese Edition of the Tang Poems for self study, those were the days when I studied this, studied that, read this and that not for exams but for deeper appreciation of literature and enjoyment. Language is such a beautiful invention, take English for example, basically there are only 26 letters, yet when put in words and poetry, when put in the hand of Shakespeare, the results are so beautiful and wonderful... Chinese is more complicated to learn, but when composed in the right way, like the poems from the Tang Dynasty, it is sheer joy just to recite them.
